Workshop ticketing system
Introducing ticketed activity system for popular workshops
We are trialling a new system this year to improve the experience for our festival community, especially for our more popular workshops. We will be using raffle tickets, but there is no raffle or draw type element. It’s just an easy and cheap way to provide tickets.
Here’s what you need to know.
Why Are We Doing This?
Some attendees were disappointed to miss out on workshops after waiting in line for the entire session, but the workshop ran out of time to allow everyone a go. Our goal is to ensure fair participation for as many people as possible.
How the ticketing system works:
- Arrival: show up at the beginning of the session.
- Ticket distribution: the workshop provider (WSP) will hand out tickets for the number of people they can accommodate.
- Extra tickets: if there’s more availability towards the end, additional tickets will be given out.
- No reservation: a ticket does not reserve your place in line, you need to hang around and wait your turn.
- Be present: If your number is called and you’re not there, you will lose your spot.
- Wait for your number to be called: even with a ticket, you need to wait in line for your turn. The ticket gives you a space to participate during the session.
- Additional tickets: if there is availability, the WSP may hand out more tickets during the session.
Workshops using the ticketing system:
- Silk Painting
- Pyrography
- Aerial Skills
- Spray Painting
- Festival Bunting
How to find these workshops
These workshops are labelled on the calendar. Search for the word ‘raffle’ in the Google Calendar App to find them. We are using raffle tickets, but it isn’t a raffle. It’s just an easy way of providing tickets cheaply.
We may add more workshops to this system if they become popular or we might discard the system altogether if it doesn’t prove successful.
Either way, we will make announcements at the festival.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we trial this new system. Your thoughts will be welcomed on the feedback form that is sent out after the festival.
